Housing Support for Ontario Seniors Committee
In 2020 MROO established a Housing Support for Ontario Seniors Committee to develop a strategy for Longterm Care (LTC) housing in Ontario and advocate and explore other housing options for seniors.

- Developed 3 new partnerships: AdvantAge Ontario, OHC (Ontario Health Coalition), and IRPP (Institute for Research on Public Policy)
- Completed the HSO National LTC Standards in March 2022
- Completed the Hardship Fund
- Contributed content to 3 MROO Print Newsletters on housing topics
- Reached out to the Ministry of Health and Ontario Government: 3 Letters sent to the Ministry of Health
- Invited guest speakers to speak to the committee on specific housing topics
- Attended the AdvantAge Ontario Conference
2021 Outcomes
- MROO’s Housing Support for Ontario Seniors Committee (HSOS) is pleased to share the Ontario Long-Term Care COVID-10 Commission Final Report dated 2021.04.30
- In January 2021, MROO sent a letter to the Minister of Long-Term Care Minister Fullerton, which discussed the interim recommendations in Long-Term Care Commission. You can find the letter from MROO, here.
- In July 2021, MROO sent a follow-up letter to the Minister of Long-Term Care, Minister Phillips where MROO expressed full support of the recommendations in the Commission’s final report and highlighted and expressed support for specific areas of concern in long-term care in Ontario. - In October 2021, representatives from MROO attended LTC protests held across Ontario in partnership with the Ontario Healthcare Coalition. Find out more here.
